Www should be CNAME or A record

Hello guys,

First I want to know if i should install my website on my root domain or www.

Second I am confused if www should be a Cname or A name record.

I use clodways hosting and cloudfare DNS.

root domain is better, even Chrome hide www now.

www should be CNAME to root domain.

Thanx gulshan, it means i should install wordpress on root domain and not www. Some forums say that it poses problems with cookies. As cookies will then be enabled for all the subdomains. But i don’t understand how that’s bad. Moreover what’s your take on setting both root and www as A name records. How does that work?

You need to set DNS record like this

Record Type Hostname Points to Time to live in seconds
A example.com 192.168.1.1 300
A www 192.168.1.1 300

Or it can be like this also

Record Type Hostname Points to Time to live in seconds
A example.com 192.168.1.1 300
CNAME www example.com 300

Both works same way.

Nothing bad.

In fact, I am also using non-www for my blog.
